Caress
A soft gasp in the dark. The wind is like a soft current on your exposed skin, nothing between you and the fullness, weightlessness of the dark. Silver light trickles in between the heavy, looming foliage. The darkness is so deep it presses against your eyes and makes the faint moonlight look like shards of glass. The grass is cold, and sharp, and strange on your skin, it's unfamiliar. The smooth air feels like the darkness is caressing you, thin spider webs of silver light gently kiss your skin. Lighting you up briefly.
There is no one around, just you and the deep night. Tilting your head back shows the faint winking of thousands of stars in the gaps between the branches that hide you from the sky. Your eyes close and the night embraces you fully, caressing you in it's darkness.

Fractured Again.
Its crackling, breaking, shattering, twisting. Bright, burning, hot, frigid, electric, screaming, sighing, laughing. Bursting, fractures, choking choking choking, but breathing. Breathing like you've never breathed before, but your suffocating. All the tension is gone but it's there and your gasping and it's filling your vision, pressing on your ears, you can taste it, and feel it like ice and fire on your skin, on your soul, at the same time. Your drowning in it, but you've never drank in so much air before, it's washing away black fog and burning like a new sun. Colors colors colors, and nothing has ever felt so good then this. And yet, it's gone so fast. Drowned by questions, pressed, pressured, pestered, until the exhilarating supernova is over because you lost it again. You lost your purpose, your clarity, amidst all the questions and now your fumbling in the dark because the light is gone and your lost all over again.

Reckless laughter
Have you ever heard it? A reckless, full, throat and belly wrenching laughter. So hard its like, for once, the weight is all gone and your lying there laughing so hard it rips through you. Its like your very soul is ripping itself from your lips, and soaring. Its breathless, gasping. Its finally FREE. And it feels so. Dang. Good. Its indescribable. It's like your laughing so hard your chest is about to break open but it doesn't matter. Your laughing all the pain out, all the stress, anxiety, misery. It leaves you gasping with tears on your cheeks, a grin so wide it hurts, and the release is incredible. The blockade on your chest, heart, blocking your voice, explodes from the force of the laughter.
I haven't ever laughed like that.
...
But I want to, someday, I want to feel it ripping through me.

Burning
I can feel the wind, its burning my skin.
I'm watching as it burns away what's left of me.
All breaking away until only a fragment remains, a skeleton.
Time, time is eating me.
Its breaking down the bits that are older, and worn out.
Stripping them away, trying to bring new life into me.
Like a farmer trimming a tree.
The sky is orange, the ground red.
Everything is withering, dying in the heat.
Except me.
I'm still walking, burning and flaming.
It was a while until I realized...
I was the one burning everything down.

Contrast
I was used to silver words
Thin like a blade
The kind that cut a smooth line
But it never hurt the same.
Yours were like a serrated knife
Never a clean wound
It bruised as it cut into me.
Never, ever smooth.
I was used to lacy lies
One's simple to believe.
Yours were like a blunt ax
I'm not that easy to deceive.
I was used to wishing I could have the stars
So pale, and glittery.
You took them out of the sky
and far away from me.
I used to talk to many
With only one face.
You had more then one
Some I couldn't trace.

Isn't This How it Works?
If I offer my soul to you
Then will you dry my eyes?
He told me that I’m worthless
He told me that I’m a mistake
Is that what you think?
Do you agree?
If I give you all my heart
If I surrender my will
Then will you love me?
Then will you stay with me?
He told me that I’m nothing
He told me that I’m just stupid
Is that what you think?
Do you agree?
If I give you all my heart
If I surrender my will
Then will you love me?
Then will you stay with me?
Don’t call me broken
I’m just fine
(I’m not fine)
If I give you all my heart
If I surrender my will
Then will you love me?
Then will you stay with me?
Isn’t this how love works?
You take everything from me
So that you’ll love and stay with me

Same Old Story
I was so happy but now your picking me apart again,
ensuring I'll never be as good as I was way back then.
You couldn't learn and now here we are back at this,
with every action sending me further down an abyss.
You love me yet you keep hurting me time after time,
seeing nothing at all wrong with your passionate crime.
How much longer do you intend on doing this to me?
Ripping and tearing at my heart for your pleasure to see.
Left to drown in an endless valley of tears while you lie,
never caring how much blood I shed, or tears that I cry.
Why is it not enough? Now you have to torture me too?
killing me everyday while pretending you never knew.
For each and every moment I feel as though I'm in Hell,
suffering the worst of fates while you relish and revel.
I'm already so broken, please, I can't take this anymore,
shattering an already damaged soul on the bathroom floor.

Paralysing Depression
Forever suffering from a broken life cursed,
drowning in my sorrows, eternally submersed.
Reaching so far, only to be ultimately let go,
while never thinking I could ever fall so low.
Wanting to fall asleep and not see another day,
as I am damned to pray and cut this pain away.
Do you even know what you've done to me?
This poor and wretched state I've come to be.
Your words and the stars say sadness demands,
that I was never meant to hold joy in my hands.
Do you know what I think about every night?
Or what I long to do in the darkness out of sight?
Feeling so physically sick to be paralysed in bed,
not even caring anymore if I should turn up dead.

Careless
You don't understand.
Your careless words crush me.
Cut me to pieces, why don't you?
I love you, I love you.
So why are you so careless?
"That's no good, you should try something else."
Why do I value your opinion so highly?
It's clear you don't value mine.
I'm sick of crying over you.
But I don't leave.
I can't leave you behind.
You don't understand.
Your careless words strangle me.
Kill me slowly, why don't you?
I love you, I love you.
So why are you so careless?
I love you more than anyone else.
So why are you always so careless with my feelings?

Equinox
entomb me in the flowers of this land,
our sweet land, where the sun shines
glittering through glass and rain,
and the clouds gather to hide us from the night
when the corn is gathered, and the orchards bare,
when the fields of the south lie empty and fallow
and the northern beast rises from summer slumber,
take me back, take me back to the beginning
after travels ventured round this globe,
to places no man has been and where we once were
rulers supreme - lords, lords of light,
i will go back, to safety, to shores and white cliffs welcoming me home
and as our woods grow and our bairns play,
play at kings and knights, and cowboys and indians
in this indian summer where love is free and life abounds,
promise me, swear to me, that this is our beginning
the autumn will be upon us later than soon, so we have time,
time enough for all of us and more to spare - but not forever,
never forever
when winter comes to take his throne,
and the fell east wind blows from castles high
and mountains

words like nicotine patches (i'm addicted)
if you've ever wondered
why poets say you instead
of i it's because we're completely terrified
of facing how empty we are
inside
(we are sand turned to glass,
falling through cracks
in the back of the world
i've forgotten how it feels to be alive)

Forgotten Halls
An ancient, sprawling maze to me,
Familiar as I grew;
It housed the rise of many
And saw the doom of few.
Never did I stop to think
Of those that came before;
All I saw was my own path,
My own tracks on the floor.
And now I see it once again
Its age making it new,
Strangers faces alien
The air of nineties, too.
I stood there when they tore it down,
Laughing with my friends.
Not once did I stop to mourn
The era come to end.

read this when you're so angry you shake
little drops of oil make rainbows on wet concrete
and i don’t know how beautiful you find that,
but sometimes you gotta learn that
the littlest things are the prettiest,
like the shape of your fingernails and the crinkles
you get at the corner of your eyes when you laugh and
when you grow old and i know i said “grow old”
like it’s a temporary thing, but that’s because it is.
you can think it’s forever but it’s really
a split second because you don’t matter, not when
the universe is still growing and speeding through a nothingness
we can’t even fathom, not when color doesn’t exist in space
but nebulas still explode in shades of gold and green,
not when there are stars who die
before their light ever touches our faces. you don’t matter,
not to anyone but the people who have fallen in love
with the way you walk and the way you breathe
and the way you keep doing both.
i don’t care that the universe is spinning and grow

Still
A year has passed.
I am no longer in agony.
But the pain still hasn't faded.
One picture, and I'm crying.
I'm sorry.
It still stings.
I don't want to cry,
But I still miss you.
Time goes on.
I can laugh again.
But my heart still aches.
One word, and I'm crying.
I'm sorry.
I take a deep breath.
I don't want to cry,
but I still miss you.
I don't know why.
It just hurts.
And I want to see you.
I'm sorry.
It still stings.
I don't want to cry.
But I still miss you.
I still miss you.

Marked Eyes
I wrote this piece to experiment with imagery. I'd actually like it if anyone watching would use their favorite art medium and create the someone that fits the description. Of course, no one has to. But I would love to see it if you did.
